Ever Seen a 13 Mile Wheelie?!   1 comment

WELCOME ..

‘Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. ‘”~ Jack Kerouac

Well all, i have finally done it!!!!  The challenge was met and i managed the 13 miles of tissington tracks in five and half hours with only the help of a small cow who decided to chase us down the tracks, that as kirsty suggested took off a least half hr!! lol

It was a lovely day, bit of sun but not to hot, no wind and no rain!!! yahoooo…. we were off, 8.30 am of on tracks with my sister maria, had a lovely push thro to biggin and to Alsop seeing 3 rabbits on the way and lots of chatting with my sister..  Got to Alsop around 11.20 and had some lunch where my sister was swapped with my dad and daughter kerry..  Left there for around 11.45 and found that the track got easier and nice and smooth so it was plain sailing up to tissington, where we stopped for a well earned ice cream for ten mins then off again past fenny bently .  Bit muddy but still good going, shoulder held up a treat which was my main worry and at eleven miles was feeling fine.  We arrived after stray cattle chased us through a gate with slight panic! they may be small but they look HUGE when your in a wheelchair!!!  Then up the hill to dadddaaaa Ashbourne car park…  13.2 miles and feeling on top of the world..  After months of planning and training and worries about shoulder injuries i was questioning my strength to do this, well i did it and am very proud and excited, but little sad it is over.  So now to plan my next one………  Anyone up for a few more miles…   watch this space xx

i will post up how much i have raised when sponsor sheets and money is in… Thank you to all who have helped me along the way, i really could not have done this without all your help and encouragement.. Thank you xxxxxx sarah

The winner of the prize draw for the tapestry is Maggie Isherwood from Tideswell… Well done maggie… will be popping over to let you choose which one you would like soon x  sarah x

13 Miles for Lewis…..  This is just what I intend to achieve along the tracks of Derbyshire in one day.  Sounds not too much of a challenge you may think?   Well for me it is as I have been a right thigh amputee for 23 yrs since loosing it in a motorbike accident at the age of 16.  I shall be attempting this in a manual wheelchair which I have only started to use recently as I was determined to find a way to help such a courageous family x

Please donate and help us to reach our goal x

All the names of those who are able to sponsor me shall be put into a prize draw at the end of the challenge to win a beautiful Tapestry up to the value of £150

Example of choice available.  To see the sort of tapestry on offer click on picture to go to site. x

Just make sure to leave us a contact no or address please to be entered.  All contact numbers and addresses will ONLY be used for this prize and will be destroyed afterwards.  All info given over is kept strictly private and will NOT be used for any marketing ! xx

This attempt is all in aid of The fund which is set up to help five yr old Lewis Mighty who is battling Neuroblastoma cancer.  He is in need of specialist treatment to boost his chance of survival from a mere 20% to a magnificent 70% but this can only be given to him over in america, New York City Memorial-Sloan Kettering cancer centre.

I am just one of many who are doing our utmost to help lewis and his family to raise the money needed to get there.  They need to raise £300,000. and are already half way there thanks to so many great people who are already involved and support the family arranging events.
